The global transition toward sustainable and low-carbon energy systems has significantly accelerated the deployment of renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and biomass. While renewable energy integration offers environmental and economic benefits, it introduces challenges related to intermittency, grid stability, power quality, and system reliability. Smart grid technology has emerged as a transformative solution that integrates advanced sensing, communication, automation, and intelligent control to enable efficient and reliable power system operation. This research paper presents a comprehensive analysis of renewable energy integration within smart grid frameworks. It examines enabling technologies, optimization techniques, energy storage systems, and real-world applications. Furthermore, the paper discusses challenges, cybersecurity concerns, and future research directions for next-generation power systems. The study concludes that smart grid optimization is essential for achieving reliable, resilient, and sustainable electrical power systems.
