Abstract

The exponential growth of mobile data traffic, massive device connectivity, and latency-critical applications has driven the evolution of wireless communication systems beyond traditional architectures. Fifth-generation (5G) wireless networks represent a major technological leap, enabling enhanced mobile broadband, ultra-reliable low-latency communication, and massive machine-type communications. However, emerging applications such as autonomous vehicles, smart cities, holographic communication, and industrial automation demand performance levels that exceed current 5G capabilities. This research paper presents a comprehensive and in-depth analysis of advanced wireless communication systems for 5G and beyond (5G-Advanced and 6G). The study examines enabling technologies, network architectures, spectrum utilization, antenna systems, and intelligent communication techniques. Key challenges such as spectrum scarcity, energy efficiency, security, and scalability are critically discussed. The paper concludes that next-generation wireless systems will rely on AI-driven network intelligence, terahertz communication, and integrated sensing-communication paradigms to meet future connectivity demands.
